Any “match” list suggestions for STEM student who should be competitive at highly selective places?
– ACT/GPA/AP’s/etc. competitive for any school.
– Geography, school size, cost not too important, although smaller school and city probably better than large, and prefer cooler weather (or at least mild summers). These preferences are on a “sliding scale” based on caliber of school.
– Currently focused on eventual math PhD, but engineering, physics or dual major are considerations
– Conservative/Christian won’t be persecuted egregiously (no false expectations, but there are different degrees)
Current list of “reach schools” is the usual places. Most reasonable “safety” school is NC Sate (our home state). NCSU seems very solid, although larger than ideal. It’s only “safety” based on likelihood of admission, not quality.
Currently have GaTech, RPI, Carnegie Mellon (except computer/IS, which seems “reach” level) as “match” schools. CMU might be “reach” anyway, not sure.
Any suggestions to add?
