Math 16A vs Natamst R1A for phase I?

Hey guys, I’m an incoming freshman and planning on taking the following courses next semester:
Math 16A- 3 units
Physics 8A- 4 units
Anthro 2AC- 4 units
Natamst R1A (Native American Studies)- 4 units

I intend to major in Anthropology and be a pre-med.

I’ve had my CalSo and enrolled in Physics and Math, but I am having second thoughts about Math for phase I because it has so many open spots and, unlike physics, is going to be filled with more underclassmen. Natamst R1A has a few spots open but probably less demand. Should I drop Math, add the R1A during the current phase, and then add Math during phase 2? Or is it better just to keep math and hope for the best? For backup R1A’s, I’m considering Near Eastern Studies R1A, German R5A, Italian Studies R5A, and French R1A. Any advice would be awesome!

I think you will get into both eventually. My recommendation would be to stick with Math 16A since adding it in Phase2 may mean you will only have options such as 8-9:30 and 5-6:30 section. Unless those are already your choices, I would recommend just staying with Math 16A. However, if you’re already in one of those two sections, you might as well enroll in your R1A for a peace of mind.

Basically: You’re fine either way, I wouldn’t worry too much about it!

And about your R&C: Well I don’t think you’ll have any trouble getting into your R1A class. Your back ups would be more about which course is more interesting (like many have said German R5A tends to be one of the easier R&C if you have the right teacher).

I would phase I the one which has the discussion section I would want. Both lectures seem pretty empty. If you’re really worried about the lecture filling up, then phase I the namast R1A
