Math 2 Question!

This is from the first practice test in Barron’s for SAT Math II

If X0 = 3 and Xn+1 = sqrt (4+Xn), then X3 =
a. 2.65
b. 2.58
c. 2.56
d. 2.55
e. 2.54
Where 0, n+1, n and 3 are all subscripts (I don’t know how to type them here)

The book said to enter 3 X0 into my calculator but I don’t know how to do that (I have the Ti-84). Please help!!

You don’t need to do that, though it does make it easier. Work it out yourself.

X1 = sqrt(4+3) = sqrt(7), from the formula. Now just continue until you get to X3.
