MATH 354 before MATH 454 or not?

<p>Would you recommend taking MATH 354 before MATH 454? I’ve heard different opinions like taking MATH 354 would strengthen your skills or you should just take MATH 454 because it isn’t too bad and is more in depth. Both sound interesting to me, though.</p>

<p>My background is MATH 285, 286, 425, and 217 if you are wondering. Got As in all of them.</p>

<p>The math department has an opinion. It’s in their credit assignments. They say don’t bother. </p>

<p>You only get 1 credit for 454 after taking 354 even though it’s a 3 credit class. </p>

<p>Generally 3XX classes are just easier versions of their corresponding 4XX classes for non-majors. If you got As in all those you’re probably pretty good at math, you should be fine in 454.</p>
