Math at UCSB

How is the Math at UCSB:

I’ve heard that UCSB has a strong physics department but how about their math? Also, I didn’t apply for creative studies, but what is the difference between the math in creative studies and the regular math in letters and science? Is it easy to transfer as a freshman?

The L&S Math department is nothing special (its not bad, its just not amazing). However, the CCS Math program is very very good. I’m not in it, but my roommate is trying to get in right now, and he’s done a lot of research. It looks extremely solid, and people who complete it normally have really good opportunities at grad school because they get involved in research really early on. You definitely can transfer, just make sure you have a competitive GPA and take all the required math classes.
