I was wondering that if you get a perfect amc 8 score, make usjmo, and go to states mathcounts, will you have a 100% chance, or will it just give a boost to the application?
No one has a 100% chance of getting in anywhere, but it would certainly boost your application. Besides awards, there are several other factors that go into your application.
You never have a 100% chance. The math scores will tell the schools you apply to that you will not struggle with math.
For sure nothing is ever 100%. But I do think it matters which grade you are applying for as well. If an applicant gets a perfect amc 8 and qualifies for JMO in 7th grade (meaning they qualified through the amc10 and AIME as well) that would carry a tremendous amount of weight because there are no more than a small handful of kids who do that in 7th. In 8 grade it would still be impressive, but since the amc10, AIME and JMO all happen in the spring, I’d guess the applicant would already be in 9th grade applying for 10th and there are quite a few more kids out there in that pool.
