Math course before Calculus?

<p>Hello, I’m currently a senior in high school and am planning on majoring in some field of science (most likely physics.) I noticed almost all, if not all, required calculus. My school doesn’t offer calculus so I will most likely be taking it in college or online somewhere. My question is, what class would I need before I am ready for calculus? I’ve taken Algebra I, Geometry, and business math (stupid choice I know). My school doesn’t offer pre-calc or trigonometry but it does offer these two courses:</p>

<p>Algebra II
Algebra II is a full-credit high school math course designed to meet the ODE standards for second-year
Algebra. In order to register for Algebra II, students must have successfully completed both Algebra I and
Geometry or the equivalents as prerequisites. This course features Holt online virtual textbooks and covers
the following topics:
• Solving Equations and Inequalities
• Linear Relations and Functions
• Systems of Equations and Inequalities
• Matrices
• Polynomials and Polynomial Functions
• Quadratic Functions and Inequalities
• Conic Sections
• Rational Expressions and Equations
• Exponential and Logarithmic Relations
• Sequences and Series
• Probability and Statistics
• Trigonometric Functions, Graphs and Identities</p>

<p>Advanced Math
Advanced Math is a full-credit high school math course designed to meet the ODE standards for Advanced
Math. This course features Holt online virtual textbooks and covers the following topics:
• Real numbers and algebraic expressions
• Exponents and Scientific Notation
• Radicals and Rational Exponents and Expressions
• Equations, Inequalities, and Mathematical Models
• Functions and Graphs
• Polynomial and Rational Functions
• Exponential and Logarithmic Functions
• Matrices and Determinates
• Conic Sections and Analytic Geometry
• Sequences, Induction and Probability</p>

<p>My question is, would either of these courses be able to replace trig or should I just take trig online? Thanks.</p>

<p>Alright well I called my guidance counselor and decided to take algebra II this coming semester since all I have is easy electives. I’ll probably end up taking trig over the summer. Thanks.</p>

<p>Another option for taking trig and pre-calc is Aleks.com. It’s an online service that costs about $20 per month. It requires you to do some self-teaching (the info is there and written down with examples, but there is no actual teacher) but the coverage is good and it helps you find the areas you need help with.
