Math for March SAT 2009

Ilikerice…thats what i did.

didnt ask for length it ask for volume lol

Was the section with the percent pie question (x and p) experimental?

what about the prob with the pyramid,and surface area=5, was the height 2

The diagonal was 12. Volume formula requires length.

i like rice, it is definitely 4 radical 3, your reading way to much into it

for 30-60-90 triangles,

short side=x
long side=x radical 3

short side in problem=4
long side=4 radical 3

What’s the answer to that parabola question? y=ax^2+b, they give you options I (-3), II (0), or III (3).

I know it’s basic math but I forgot the properties of parabolas…

Ice cream and soda was 3.50.
I think it went like:
3x+2y=9
2x+4y=10

(6x+4y=18)
-(2x+4y=10)

4x=8
x=2

2(2)+4y=10
4y=6
y=1.5

x+y=2+1.5=3.5

It was I only.

I only.

a = negative because parabola goes down
b = negative because y-int is below 0

Neg + Neg = Neg.

yah… and they gave you diagonal as 12 yes? how were you supposed to solve the length with that…

I. -3

which was the experimental section?

why doesnt trigonometry work on that 4rad3 problem. im thinking about it and 4rad3 makes sense but when you use cos60=4/x the answer turns out being 8.

pythagorean thereom is your friend :)

trigonometry isn’t on the test, is it?

no the experimental section was the one with the truck/pyramid quesiton i think.

oh oops I forgot about 5-12-13 lol…

wait new fish did they give the the diagonal as 12 or 13? it was 13 and then the legs are 5 and 12? so it’s 3412? >.>
**** i forgot about the pythagorean theorem… they were smart … they showed the cross diagonal right? So you ahd to think about 3d figures and the even if you change the triangle… the height and length is the same so the diagonal is still the same… god

Cool, I think I ended up putting I only. Had to change it like four times though.

correct mde, final answer 144

tan 60 = x/4
