Math I vs II for non math guy

Here’s the deal. I need to take 3 subject tests, and I chose Math II, US History, and Literature for the Oct. 4th date. Now I am questioning if I should be taking Math II or I.

I want to major in Poli Sci, and I don’t really ever want to take high level math courses. In essence, I want to be done with math. I am in Calc 3, and I got a 5 on the BC AP test, so I know my stuff, but I don’t ever want to use it.

oh and I’m applying to HYP and a slew of the top 20.

Questions:

Is it too late to switch to math I?

Is it advisable to switch? Do I really need Math II if I am not applying to any engineering schools?

You are startlingly close to being my clone- you’re taking the same tests as I am, and I want to be done with math, too. Only difference is I want to major in International Relations. But anyway:

No. You can switch the day of the test.

No. I would still take Math II even if applying to poli sci. The curve on II is better, and as long as you know your stuff you should be good.

I switched to Math I the day of the test (didn’t have a calculator), and I strongly recommend taking Math II!

I would do the Math II because of the curve.

The main reason not to take math 2 would be that you haven’t covered the extra material compared to level 1 and/or you just haven’t done that well in math. So for you, take level 2.

Completed calc? Take Math 2

Applying to top 20 colleges? Take Math 2

Pick-up BArron’s and do some quick review. Trig and matrices should come back quickly.

Note, there is essentially zero planar Geom on M2, and M1 uses all those Alg 1 rules which you probably forgot.

Take Math II b/c of where you are applying! You should do well!
