Math II Calculators Galore

The Math II is a test that tests you on math skills with a strenuous time limit, so any calculator applications can help. Post the calculator applications you have downloaded/used for the SAT Math exams.

I’ve used CtglHlp (Catalog Help) for when I took AP Stats, it’s very helpful by giving you what to enter for various calculator functions.

You don’t really need any apps to help you on the test. Most of the calculator stuff you need to do is trig stuff, which you could just plug in on your calculator (just make sure your in the right mode - degrees and radians). The one app I would actually get though is the quadratic formula which you could find pretty easily online.

I got an 800 without any special calculator programs; they’re not really necessary. If you want, you can define your own functions but I’d only do this if the calculation is really tedious (highly unlikely) or just to check your answer.

How many questions usually involve ambiguous cases (from the Barron’s book) in terms of number of triangles that can be formed in terms of bSina < a < b means 2 triangles can be formed? And what other topics that may be considered difficult should I review?

I don’t have the Barron’s book…but I think I understand what you mean about the b sin A < a < b (given two sides a and b and the angle opposite A, two triangles can be formed). I don’t recall any questions of those type, but it’s been a while since I’ve taken math II. I have a strong math background so prepping for math II was largely unnecessary for me.

Umm, mostly the basic alg/geo/pre-calculus should do good. I also suggest learning or reviewing combinatorics and elementary number theory (modular arithmetic, etc.). The latter isn’t really needed on math II, but saved me some time. Instead of doing weird algebraic substitutions, you can use modular arithmetic and simplify the problem.

Alright thanks. I have a strong math background as well, but I want to make sure I know everything I can for the test because some of it hasn’t been covered in any of my math courses.
