For the people who epically failed the Math II test… what are you going to do about preparing for next time??

Also, are you not that great at math or was it nervousness and other test taking problems that lead to your dismal score?

It was the latter for me. :S I know I’m good at math. I’m not like a super genious about it. I’m taking the normal advanced courses, nothing like taking Calc as a freshman. I’m still taking Calc though! So yeah, I’m pretty sure I need to figure out how to tackle this test. Everyone does so well on this test, so not retaking isn’t an option. So what are you all going to do?

Im good in math in that I get As in IB math HL, but I got a 710 on this test…
Didn’t study for it at all, instead studied for physics and thought I would get at least 750 after the test, but today i check and i got 670… - .-…

Yupyup, epic failure here. But I’m not retaking; I’d rather take Bio or Spanish instead next year. If I were to retake math II and epically fail again, it would be beyond disheartening. Besides, only one college that I’m applying to requires 3 SAT IIs, and I already have 2 other solid ones.

Do you really feel the need to retake this specific test instead of taking a different subject? It could help. Just a suggestion, from one epic failure to another :)

Would highly selective colleges look down on 3 humanities-based SAT IIs if one’s application is centered around the humanities?

i just got my scores back and i got an 800 all i did before was skim through sparknotes online and do the two practice tests in the small blue book. what i saw was that most of these questions were similar as the ones on the real thing. just learn how to do them all and itll guarantee you a 700+. if you are good in math getting 5’s on BC calc then easy 800

Hey dude don’t even sweat it. Just do some more studying from like Barrons/Princeton/Kaplan and take it again. I got a 570 last year as a Sophomore and was really dismayed cause I thought I was good at math (took honors every year, only get B’s in classes tho). Then summer of junior year (this year) it’s finals week and I have no time to study at all for SAT II’s and then the day after school ends, BAM SAT 2 weekend. Got a 700 this time, even though my math class this year was a complete joke and we played through pokemon blue on our TI-89’s at least 10 times, ect.

Moral of the story, it’s not even about “do more learning next year” or “study harder.” Each time you retake the test it’s a different set of questions. Each time you retake the test you get a little bit more comfortable with the format and it all starts looking familiar and friendly. Each time you retake the test you might be in a room that’s less depressing than the last room you were in. So chin up, eat pancakes/waffles for breakfast and go do it.

I’m so retaking. I have to take one more anyway, so I’ll just retake when I do that one. I’m not that great at math, I took Calc BC this year, so lately I hadn’t really done any Math II type stuff. Ugh.

When I say I fail, I really mean I did badly. Not like, “Oh noes, I got a 760!” Or w/e. My score was below 650. Looking around the forum, I have the LOWEST score among the CCers. It’s utterly shocking how horribly I did on this test. I didn’t even feel THAT bad about it. I thought I didn’t do well, but I wasn’t expecting this.

My two other scores were 750 and 770. Which I think is pretty good. So idk, it doesn’t seem like it’s a mistake. I’m just an idiot. Ugh, must improve.

Shizzle do you feel like perhaps you were cheated? I got a 600 on mine. I’m too discouraged to care about anything; I want to cry. I like math, and i’m good at it. I even checked this website to view the ones i had trouble with…

Don’t get too low dude… there is always next time. The key is not to get to nervous. I didn’t feel nervous and that’s probably the main reason why I got a 750.
