Math IIC vs. Math IC

If I took Math IC instead of IIC would it hurt my chances greatly when applying for universities like UCLA or UCB? I’ve taken a look at the IIC material and I really feel like I would do a lot better on the IC.

That question has many facets. Yes and no.
Yes: People who have received scholarships like to Cal took the IC if they were not prepared for the IIC.
No: If you have taken Calculus or pre-calculus it may hurt you because it may be seen as just taking the easier way out.

Don’t UCs only accept IIC now? Correct me if I’m wrong. IIC has a huge curve though (-6=800, whereas IC, -1=790 or somethign)

Currently they accept both. The curve, mind you that the IIC is much harder than the IC. Obviously if you’ve taken calculus, you’d be fine taking either or. That’s why I recommend taking Calculus in high school.

to be honest i think IIC is by far the better option. better curve, more direct questions. generally better if you’re gunning for that 800.

Less of an issue if you’re applying to a major that is nopt math or science related. A potential engineering major had better take the IIc!
