i’m probably gonna be a math major. graduate school is certainly a possibility but if not, what decent/high-ish paying jobs could i get with a BS Math?

Thnaks CCers

Oh yeah! its a 3rd tier regional university but i plan on staying in the area if that matters…

You can get into the insurance industry as an actuary. The insurance industry does look for math people in their underwriting areas. Also, software development company who have a difficult time finding software engineers (due to location or lower wages than the Googles or Microsofts of the world) will train BS graduates in math in software engineering. Keep in mind that management positions will require you to go to graduate school.

Byrdman, could you be more specific about software companies willing to hire and retrain math majors? Can you give any specific examples of companies that do and/or are willing to do this?

P.S. I’m a math minor at a top 5 liberal arts college, if that matters.
