I took AP BC Calculus as a junior and US VA History honors as a junior. I am applying to many Ivys. Is it better to submit a AP math rec that will be good, or an honors history rec that will be great?
The great recommendation.
The recommendation you think will be better. However make sure the colleges or programs you are applying to don’t require a math/science rec.
It depends on what you are planning on majoring in. If you planning to major in something math or science based, such as engineering, then it is better to submit the AP Calculus recommendation. A lot of universities have separate engineering schools and those engineering schools have higher standards then the general admission (most often times you don’t have to apply to both schools, just apply to the general school) and a math recommendation is a lot more competitive. If you are majoring in something in political science, then it’s better to submit the US recommendation.
What I did was submit a math/science recommendation and a history/english recommendation so that I was well rounded.
