<p>Hey I haven’t taken math in a while and can’t remember what you do to 9 to get it from under the radical sign… thanks to anyone who can help.</p>

<p>There’s a mental step between steps 2 and 3. So we can split the radical sign. Sqrt(9<em>2)=sqrt(9)</em>sqrt(2). We know that sqrt(9)=3. So then 18*3sqrt(2)=54sqrt(2). </p>

<p>Or you can think about it this way. Sqrt(9<em>2)=sqrt(3</em>3*2). Since we have two 3’s, we can bring the 3 in front, out of the sqrt sign.</p>
