math problem

From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, a group of photographers will be taking individual pictures of 600 students. If it takes 2 minutes to take each student’s picture, how many photographers are needed?
(A) Two (B) Three © Four (D) Five (E) Fifteen

The answer is D) Five. But, the question says individual pictures. Doesn’t that mean there’ll be 600 students? I’m not getting what the question is trying to ask.

It means each student stands alone for a picture (no group shots). So each photographer can take 120 pictures in the four hour window (30 per hour at 2 minutes per photo). So 600/120 = 5.

Ooh. Photographers, not photographs. That makes MUCH more sense!
