Math question from 2008-2009 sat practice test

this is the link for the test. It would have been pointless to type the questions down since the figures are significant.
Please tell me how to do 15#, 16# 18#

Thank you so much guys :)

The link doesn’t work for me.

here is the fixed link:

Which section?

^My question too :p.

I’ll assume it’s the Grid-In (18 question section).
For number 15, we already know that m1 x m2 = -1, if the two lines are perpendicular. So, with that information in mind, we figure out the slope of line 1, denoted as m1. The points we’re going to use are (-2,0) and (0,-3), since the lines cuts the x-axis at -2, and the y-axis at -3. Therefore, m1 = -3-0 / 0–2 = -3 / 2 = - 3/2. Now let’s substitute m1 into our original equation to find the value of m2.

 • 3/2 x m2 = -1. Therefore, m2 = 2/3.

Simply substitute a negative value for x, to produce a number that is between 6 and 7. It can be any value between -3 and -4. Let’s take -3.5, therefore, a possible value of modulus x will be 3.5

Before I elaborate further, I need to double check my answer with you. Is the answer 23.33?

yea, you’re right

18:

if the area of the triangle is 7, then what the previous multiplication result (from the area of triangle formula) is obviously 14. Now we just have to find 2 numbers that times each other are = to 14 with the rule ‘PT = 2/5 of PS’ also being followed.

you can turn 2/5 into 4/10 or 6/15, I chose 6/15. If PT = 6/15, then TS = 9/15, or you can just make TS = 9 and PT = 6.

If TS = 9, just do 14/9 to find RS. You get 1.55555(repeating). Now just add 9 and 6 for the bottom side and times that by 1.5(repeating) and you get the answer that sirwanksalot got.

sorry guys i meant section 6 but thank you for the other ones too
