5
(10 char)

oh this was in the international sat maths …
the answer is 5 and the total steps would be 9

5… I dont think there is really any formula; I just counted with my fingers :]

Sorry, how did you guys do that? Could someone explain the steps?

I keep getting 6 moves.

Thanks for the clarification but I think this question was horribly phrased.

Firstly, the question says “Each player has two MOVES in a turn.” So its really 10 moves, 5 turns I think.

Secondly, I assumed that after A made 1 turn (two moves or two steps), B would make a turn and so on.

Apart from actually penetrating the ambiguity of the problem, this was fairly simple which makes me think I missed something out :p

Thanks guys for the answers but the problem is that the question is asking for the minimum number of MOVES not turns?

So how could it be 5?

A ■■■■■■ must have phrased that question. Problem is, the answer is either 10 moves, or 5 turns. And 10 moves wasn’t an option, so I went with 5.

But maybe I came up with 10 only because I actually jumped on the B square, with A. If I only become adjacent with it, it’ll add up to 9 moves. Either way, it’s a horribly phrased question, and we will probably be unable to unanimously agree on a specific answer.

Well actually it could be 9 is player A started first?

@SirWanksalot

You are right.
Anyway I will just chill out and wait for the score :D
