I was wondering what kind of Math and Science related Clubs or Organizations there were that one could participate in, and if anyone has links to information on this, that would be nice.

Also, though unrelated, are there any nice golf courses nearby?

Cider, Rochester is a golf haven. Oak Hill Country Club is one of the country’s best golf courses; it’s consistently ranked in the top 10. There are also a slew of other courses throughout the Rochester area.

As for Math and Science clubs, I would check out the Society of Undergraduate Math Students (SUMS) at the following URL: [Society of Undergraduate Mathematics Students - U of R](http://www.math.rochester.edu/undergraduate/sums/). As for science, it would depend what you want to do. I’m sure some of the current UR students on CC will provide more info.

Cider, that’s true about the golf courses. Oak Hill isn’t even open to the public; you need to know someone in order to play. That said, there are many other public golf courses that are good and inexpensive. I’ve played on some of them.

The public golf course at Durand Eastman Park is beautiful and not easy to play. I remember at one point it was rate one of the top ten public municipal course in the US (or some such). The Genesee Valley Park golf course is also available and just about next to the campus (off East River Road).

However, unless you stay around for the summer months, your time on the courses will be limited. It gets cool early and spring takes its time arriving.

Do you know what the general time spans are for the golf courses to be open, though? I don’t know whether I’d be there over the summer or not, and I’d have “free” rounds if I were to come home for the summer.

Sorry, since I am not a golfer, I do not keep track of the gneral time spans for the golf courses. However, you can check on their websites. You should be able to find them when you go to Google and look up Genessee Valley Park and Durand Eastman Park. Both of them are in the Monroe County park system.
