Mathematics, Statistics, or Anthro. Which is most impacted?

Generally speaking, Which of the three is most impacted at UC?

Anthro would probably be the most impacted, then Math, then Stats. I think most UC’s don’t even offer Stats as a major. I don’t think any of these majors are considered “impacted” at any UC though.

UCLA admitted statistics here:
[Profile of Admitted Transfer Students by Major, Fall 2010 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof10_mjr.htm)

I would say none of them are impacted.

Seems math is an easy major to get into good school. I don’t know much about stats, barely heard people apply as a stats major.(I’m one of them :D) I also want to know some successful stories of students that major in stats. I have a lot of friends got into Cal and LA as math major with OK GPA.

So Stats would be an easier major to get accepted into?

Stats is not offered widely at UCs. I suggest being a math major, many people I know get into UCLA under Math, Math Econ or sth with 3.3 - 3.4

I’m a Stats major at UCD, transferred in for this fall. My department advisor told me there were only about 100 of us in the whole school, including post grads lol.

@UCMath… check your messages.

It depends on the UC campus. Some UCs admit by division (like Berkeley), so math and stat will have the same admit pool. UCLA/UCI admits by major, so each major will have a different admit pool.

Well for what it’s worth, I applied to UCLA as an anthro major (changed to art history at orientation - save the career jokes) and from the 6 people total in my group, only I had over a 3.5. The lowest gap I heard was 2.9, with the others right around a 3.0-3.2. In fact two students admitted that they were only anthro majors because their counselors advised them that it was one of the easiest majors to get into. Of course there were some amazingly intelligent students as well, but in my personal group, the major proved to not be very selective.

Thanks for the info. Ms. Sun

^Oh gee UCIHopeful. now you gone and gotten me all hopeful for UCLA again.

Anthropology is most impacted, though in social sciences, as opposed to math, so that’s why. If you want to go to UCLA and have the pre-reqs completed for Anthro, plus are in the TAP program (if your CC offers it) you have a great chance!

seeing that your username is UCmathematics though, would you prefer to be a math major at UC? or is Anthro your 2nd choice major? :)
