For those of you who chose to matriculate at MIT, what factors led to this decision?

I already spent way too much money at the gift shop. If I didn’t enroll, it would all be wasted ;)

Well, after I got into MIT, I was almost sure I wanted to go there, as I’ve loved the school for a really long time. I visited Caltech and Harvard to make sure I didn’t love them more, and I didn’t. Money was pretty much equal, so I decided to go to MIT :-). (In the end, it was between Harvard and MIT… and Harvard’s prefrosh weekend decided that one very easily, actually)

The atmosphere, the weather (I love snow and cold), the spark of rare innocence and idealism that I found in the people, CPW, the fact that it’s MIT and I felt like I belonged there, and because I realized that I would regret it for the rest of my life if I had done everything I could to get into my dream school before giving it up because of money reasons. It just wasn’t going to happen :)

Does anyone know how soon they will release matriculation statistics? Us waitlisters are awaiting them.

Culture culture culture - it’s a very unique place to be. Tons of nerds and hackers =D.

@cjmdjm - the thing is, mail takes time. They need to get all the mail and do their lists and everything, so my guess would be June. You can look through the blogs and see if there’s mention of it in past years. It’ll probably be around the same time.
