<p>I have decided that I will either attend Penn State University Park or Virginia Tech for Materials Science and Engineering. I realize that Penn State has a ranking of somewhere around 6th (I can’t find the exact number), and Virginia Tech has a ranking of 14th, but I don’t know exactly HOW much better that is. In addition, I am going to be applying to the honors programs for both universities. If I am exorbitantly lucky enough to be accepted into both, which is viewed as being superior?</p>
<p>Could anyone who has attented either university comment on the quality of the MatSci programs? I would appreciate ANY comments on the qualities or lack thereof of either university versus the other.</p>
<p>I am currently a student of the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech. Out of high school, I was accepted to Penn State-College of Engineering, NC State-Colege of Engineering, and University of Maryland-College of Engineering. I honestly and truly believe that Virginia Tech has the best overall Engineering program especially in Materials Science. With the expanded programs and funding that Virginia Tech has receieved from both the state of Virginia and the National science federation, Virginia Tech’s future looks extremely bright. Every Engineering discipline at Virginia Tech is within the top 25 ranking and has a wonderful reputation.
I HIGHLY recommend Virginia Tech…its beautiful campus, southern hospitality, excellent engineering education and wonderful environment are bar none.</p>
