What’s the max amount of times I can take the new SAT and still be able to get superscore?
Point of diminishing returns is 3 tries at most, assuming you’re well rested, healthy, and took some time to prepare.
Superscoring is a college policy and not something controlled by College Board. Technically, there are no limits. You also have score choice available at most colleges, so even if you took the test 6 times, you would only need to release the scores that gave you the best superscore. As mamedefamilia said, though, rarely a good idea to plan on more than 3 tries.
I don’t know of any schools that will superscore using both the old and new SAT.
My D took it four times; the final time she earned a 2300. Just putting that out there because I often hear the “no more than 3” stated as gospel. I’m not aware of any stats that support this. But even if there were, people should feel free to do what’s right or best for them.
I would suggest not taking it more than 4 times. 2 or 3 test dates is what it usually takes to achieve your best score.
