Maximum Units at CC

So I’ll be applying this fall to UCs and was wondering how many units I can take at DeAnza.
My major is biochem and by the spring 2014(i transfer fall 2014) I will have accumulated approximately 145 quarter units.

This is mainly because I’m going to complete IGETC and finish Bio/Chem/OChem/Physics series.

Will I be rejected for taking too many classes?? I’m mainly looking at Berkeley, UCLA, San Diego and Davis

Oh and I’m taking classes only at Foothill, Mission and DeAnza CC. I have not attended a 4year college

Thanks

There’s no unit limit for CC units because they’re lower division units. You can have 1000 CC units and you’ll be fine for admission purposes. I was admitted to LA, SD, and Davis with around 150+ because I spent 3 years in CC. Once you’re admitted and enrolled your units will be capped at 105 quarter (70 semester) units when you enroll. Meaning when you start at CC you’ll start with 105 quarter units which is junior level status instead of 145 units, which would be senior status. Additionally, you will get subject credit for all transferable classes you’ve taken in CC from your 145 units. Meaning all of your classes will carry over to satisfy prereqs regardless of your 145 units. You don’t have to worry about not getting subject credit for your “extra” 40 units.
