Maxwell School - International Relations

Hi,

I’m an graduate student in Interntiona Relations… recently accepted.

Wondering if anyone knew about the program and how it compares to others. (I already know its not comparable to Tufts, Columbia, JHU) … what about other programs, just below those top-tier ones? I often see Syracuse listed on the same list as these top-tier ones, but generally viewed as worse.

My other option is Seton Hall. I’m leaning heavily towards Syracuse.

Also, if there are any other graduate students at Syracuse, who are looking for a roomate, post back here. We can then private-message/email bio info and all that (i’m male, 22, for starters).

Thanx

Hey AJK,

Been lurking for a while, reading the IR posts and see that you’re considering or have accepted at Syracuse. Keep us informed about how you like it.

I read a lot of the info on their website, and liked the overseas opportunities that they offer, particularly the summer internship in Geneva. Great opp for some int’l work experience.

I’ve been accepted at SAIS and am currently debating whether to do that or take the combined IR/MPA route at Maxwell (which is way less expensive). Of course, if I want the best of both worlds I could do the joint SAIS/Maxwell IR/MPA which would be killer.

Based on what the other IR guys have said, I feel kind of intimidated by the SAIS students, who all seem to have super-elitist backgrounds. I just have an average public school education in engineering with a modest GPA (3.25). Fortunately, I have 11 years of public administration background, but still, I don’t have int’l work experience, or an IR/Poli Sci undergrad, or fluency in a foreign language. I’m starting to think that SAIS accepted me by accident…hahah…I did kick arse on the GRE though (720/750/5.5).

Anyway, I’m rambling. Good luck with Syracuse and keep us posted.
