May 2010 Math SAT Thread

My order was:

M, M, CR, M, W, CR, M, CR, W.

the first one was the essay, which is writing. you mean you had W,M,M,CR …

Yes, I didn’t mention that because it was implied or so I thought.

@slapshot101 No the original problem was 3<2x<11, but I guess I made a stupid mistake and gridded-in a value for x, not 3x. 100% sure it wasn’t asking for x?

JEYuen: unfortunately that one has been discussed, and it was asking 3x with x as an integer not real

100% it was 3x. I remember rereading that question 5 times to make sure I wasn’t falling into the obvious trap. Sorry. x=3, so 3x=9 would’ve worked, I know I put that.

thats exactly what i got. everyone else on the forum is saying that the answer is 8531 or something like that. the fourth digit had to be the sum of the first three numbers. 5218 was the highest number in which this is true and when the numebrs are multiplied they are divisible by 10. the order is digit(1,2,3,4) not (4,3,2,1).

So which section experimental? a very stupid thing happened to me in sec7 where i shifted my answers by 1no. I mean i bubbled the answer of Q5 where i had to bubble Q6 and so on. thank God i noticed after Q20. still i had to leave 3 writing questions aside. That was really frustrating! That spoiled my rhythm. With 3 blanks in writing, how much can I score in writing? Any idea? I’m hoping to get at least 11 or maybe 12 in essay.

I believe the experimental section was whatever your section 3 was…anyone remember the RS00J0 question? I need an explanation for that

what exactly was the question with a grid in answer as 72? i don’t remember . and also , the grid in with 102 as an answer?

any way that the gas mileage problem or the regression problem were experimental??

no coz they came for my friend hu had an extra 25 min WS section, so those problems were not on the experimental.

btw, what were the other alternatives for the scatter plot question??

was there an option such as -7x + 15 or -7x + 17???!!

I remember having done -7x + something, but don’t know whether or not that was 13 :(

edit: i think I selected E. What is the correct ans?

I misread one question and got it wrong, bloody stupid mistake. I usually get 800 for math, was the test hard enough to still get over 780 or so with one mistake?

the answer for the scatter plot question was -7x + 13
I think they had -7x + 7 not sth like + 15 or + 17

probably not :(. Anyone remembers the alternatives of the scatter prob??

I’m sooo mad at myself, misreading stuff :@ :@

Rx10^5 + Sx10^4 + Jx10^1
ANSWER: RS00J0

Anyone can explain? I got it right by guessing, but how do you do it?

Rx10^5= R00000
Sx10^4= S0000
Jx10^1= J0

Add them up :)

try plug in R = 5; S = 4; J = 3
and use your calculator
=> 540030

generally: R00000
+ S0000
+ J0
should equal: = RS00J0

anyone plsss
was E the right alternative on the scatter plot question?? I remember I put in E, but don’t know what was it…
