May 2013 SAT Discussion Thread

For the sum of three consecutive integers did you guys get 9?

Also, did anyone have a CR section in which a journalist was observing a Chinese chef? I’m really hoping that was my experimental because literally I guessed 4 out of the 8 SCs in that section. Looking back I probably should have just omitted several of those guesses :/

My introduction went something like this:
Intelligence is often measured by degrees or past experiences. However, if you’re not happy, those educational credentials are irrelevant.

I then went on to talk about how happier people are more likely to engage in conversation with new people and they have new experiences. Those new experiences make them more well rounded.

Thoughts?

@ Devonte32896

Yeah, 2+3+4=9

@ kath1113

I didn’t have that passage so it should be experimental.

Does anyone else think that the math problem about the 4/6 seating table is ambiguous? It says that there is an EQUAL amount of tables, but can’t it be like 18 of the 4/6 seater each and 12 of the 4 seater and 12 of the 6 seater?

Someone please predict my score:

Math: 6 omitted; 0-2 incorrect
CR: 4-5 incorrect
Writing: Essay is 3 paragraphs long and a little over a page; I missed maybe 3 MC

Guys can someone give me an estimate? this is my last SAT and ive been dying to break 2200. is it possible?
Math: 800 till now
CR: 3-4 wrong,1 omit
Writing: 2-3 wrong

Also Essay: 3 paragraphs, full two pages , good intro so-so conclusion. Examples: Bhutan and the Global Happiness Index, Socrates misanthropic nature and galileo’s depression (I BSed;))

math: 680
critical reading: 740
essay: assuming an 8 essay? 670
total: 2090

March curve
Remember to take away 1/4 for incorrects
CR:
-0 800
-1 800
-2 800
-5 740
-8 720

M:
-0 800
-1 760
-2 740
-5 690

W:
800 - 80 mc, 9-12 E
800 - 76 mc, 11 E
760 - 79 mc, 9 E
710 - 78 mc, 8 E

^ March math was -3 700. The curve for this test isn’t going to be that badly though…

For the last to questions in sec. 10. For the horse one did you put “Because horses are timid , approach them with…” And the Hawaii one was no error?

how will the CR curve be?

Yeah I think I put that, although I was debating it because in order to be correct, a pronoun should come right after the comma, so it should have bern something like “Because horses are timid, they should be approached…”

But I’m not sure if there was an answer choice like that.

Yeah, the hawaii one was no error ans I put “Becasue a horse is timid, it should be approached…” Was the math question with the cost of the pens and pencils 12?

I’m pretty sure ‘horses’ was plural tho… And that choice didn’t exist

really?? i though it was like “because a horse is a startled creature…” or something like that  i think that choice was there…?

No @lianna45 is right. I remember completely now. It was “horse” was singular and there were two options that began with “it”, and one of those was obviously wrong so I chose the right one.

Gogi24 I got one must approach with care for the horse question and then I also got A, or no change for the Hawaii one

shouldnt it be “one should approach it”, since you need to clarify who is approaching it

So “one should approach” is not a possibility or am I thinking of a different question?

So what’s the consensus?
