Mayor’s PlaNYC Challenge

Anyone interested in the new “green dorm”? ;)

Not really, but I’m wondering how it’s going to be done. Are they going to take an already existing dorm and make it green? I suppose it wouldn’t be like the LLC or special interest housing because it’s launching next year and students have already chosen housing–are students just going to find when they arrive on campus that their dorm has become the “green dorm” over the summer? I wonder if it will have regulations or will individuals just make their own decisions.

From PrezBo:

i’d guess it’s a retro fit. columbia wouldnt force some kind of lifestyle change on students tho, they probably mean they will be redoing all the heating/cooling/water systems in 1 dorm.

i think they are probably just going to try and steal some ideas from the bank of america tower (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_of_America_Tower,_New_York_City</a>)

no one probably cares anymore but here is what the school is doing:

based on the fact that carman is the only dorm with the dual flush toilets, i’m betting that is going to be the “green dorm”
