<p>It can be very beneficial. Yale has a program that focuses on non profits. </p>
<p>You don’t need an MBA to start your own, but you better be highly educated, experienced and connected if you want any hope of raising real money. There’s a lot of consolidation in the non profit/foundation world. Warren Buffet put lots of Money into the Gates foundation because it often makes sense to put your money to work in an already well run rather than to absorb the overhead of starting a new one.</p>
