Mba cpa llm phd ***?

The acronym-centric world of business and law has left me confused.

I am currantly an accounting major/finance minor and I am looking to create a roadmap for my future. Initially I wanted to get a MS in Taxation and possibly go to law school. When I started looking at tax programs, I decided I needed to know the real differences between an MBA and an MS. Then I wanted to know the differences between a JD and an LLM. Then I wanted to know if a PhD is worth it and then after I gave the mouse a cookie he wanted an Advil for the headache he got from all the vauge explainations.

tl;dr

I am trying to decide which pretty pieces of parchment would look nicest on my office wall.

My current plan looks like this:

BS Accounting - Nevada

MS Taxation - Golden Gate

JD - Santa Clara

???

PROFIT!

Advice, comments, death threats, they are all welcome.

Do a PhD if you want to live the life of an academic and do research. Unless it’s like a math PhD from MIT or something in which case maybe you can get a job on Wall Street.

A JD from a non-top 14 school is really iffy in terms of employment, but still extremely expensive. So adding 150k of debt and losing out on 3 years of work means that JD from Santa Clara makes no sense.
