MBA preparation

If you go to a top 15 school per US NEWs and work 2 years for a top 5 ibank or top 5 consulting firm as per vault, is that good preparation for a top 5 mba program?

That’s a blue chip applicant.

Top MBA schools love these applicants assuming everything else in line.

When you say “Top 15 schools per US News”, does that include Liberal Arts Colleges too? Could someone tell me how LAC students are regarded in MBA admission?

Work experience is key. Ibanking/consulting experience as described above is what would make this an ideal candidate. Obviously, going to a top 15 school will open up more doors for you to gain good work experience, but undergrad profile isn’t as important as what you do post-graduation.

BTW, I don’t mean to say that consulting/ibanking is the only type of work experience that schools look for. There are a ton of different paths one can take to make it into a good business school, and taking the path less walked could make a candidate more appealing to top business schools. (ie govt, non profit, fashion designer, architect, etc).
