Sorry about the topic typo…I was curious to whether a business school would have a preference to an applicant who went to their school as an undergrad (not necessarily the business school tho) for example would A or B have a better shot if both had the same experience?
Applicant A:
GMAT 700
Undergrad: NYU english major

Applicant B:
GMAT 700
Undergrand: St.johns Uni. Tobin Business School Finance Major

All else being equal, as you said, they both get rejected for falsifying their resumes.

haha not really english majors could end up with a finance job…i see it at my internship at JPM

This question is completely pointless. I hope you aren’t basing a decision on the answer to this question.

I think the school you graduated from is one of the least important things they check at business school. 3 key things:
- Experience. What have you done that you can bring into the class and will add value?
- Personality. Does your fit with the school you are applying to?
- Essays. You have to nail the essays.

Well then again there is the GMAT. After all this are taken care of, I don’t think you can find two candidates that are the same for the graduate school to be the differentiator.

Thanks WeAreClyons first person actually give a real answer. I wasn’t basing my decision on this but it actually does matter what school you go to if there was a preference.
