McCain-Weld

I think McCain should move center and draft former Governor of Massachusetts William Weld to be his Vice President. Unlike that flip-flopping Romney, Weld actually worked FOR the citizens of Massachusetts instead of just grandstanding. Plus he also ran against that loser Spitzer in NY. He’s fiscally conservative and socially tolerant. Just the ticket to send Obama packing.

IMHO, that combo gets the Hillary supporters, and frankly gets me hands down.

I just read about this guy on wikipedia. I think MacCain should give this guy a lot of consideration. The country needs a lot of fiscal conservatives to put our finances in order.

I’m hoping that Weld returns to Massachusetts for a go at the Kerry or the Kennedy Senate seat. He got kicked out of the Republican Party in the same way that the Clintons have been kicked out of the New Democratic Party.

I actually think Williams alum, Martha Coakley (Mass. Attorney General) will run for the Kennedy seat. She listened to the voters of Massachusetts and endorsed Clinton a few weeks ago.

I believe that many people may still associate Bill Weld with the fiasco in Boston known as the “Big Dig”.

The big dig was a fiasco before he got there.

How many Republicans could get elected Governor of Massachusetts twice, the second time with over 70% of the vote.

I can just picture him jumping fully clothed into the shark tank at the Miami Seaquarium. (For those who don’t remember, he jumped fully clothes into the Charles River to prove how clean it had become). He’s generally reasonable on issues and he has a sense of humor. It’s hard not to like this guy.

I voted for Weld. Still like him a lot. He’s as smart as they come. But he’s easily bored. I can’t imagine he’d like to be #2

“I voted for Weld. Still like him a lot. He’s as smart as they come. But he’s easily bored. I can’t imagine he’d like to be #2”

Maybe this is where people like me can speculate that if it were whispered in his ear that there’d only be one McCain term . . .
Not that I think there’s any validity to that claim, but one can have a little fun with the veepstakes, no?

McCain is 71. That’s why the VP is so important this time. Since Gore for better and Cheney for worse, the VP has actually mattered lately.

I don’t think Weld would get bored waiting for a shot at the White House.

MCain has some “issues” re second marriage. Weld has some issues re THIRD marriage. Weld’s #2 is a really, really good person. My understanding is that all of Weld’s children are estranged from him because of his conduct towards their mom. I don’t think McCain can afford to pick someone with matching baggage.

BTW, I just checked Wikipedia and it says that Weld’s second wife was his first. That’s untrue. I know Susan was his second wife.

I’ll agree that private lives should be private lives–but they aren’t.

If I were McCain, and I really actually wanted to get elected, I’d choose a centrist FEMALE governor. Or are all the female governors Democrats?

Ah, so it’s agreed: McCain is too old.

Kay Baily Hutchinson.

Now that the New Democratic Party has said they don’t need the votes of white working women and Latino/a voters anymore, it probably doesn’t really matter who McCain picks.

Since there are at least two McCains trapped in one body, maybe he should have himself as Vice President:
