McGill or Georgetown (NHS)

Hi. Im currently a second year undergraduate student at McGill University, majoring in “Anatomy and Cell Biology” and minoring in “Management.”

I recently got accepted to Georgetown University, School of Nursing and Health Studies (NHS) in “Human Science” pre-med program as a transfer student. I’m really happy that I got in, but after talking to my friends and professors, I started to get a bit confused whether I should really transfer. The primary reason why I want to transfer out of McGill is its strict curriculum that is intensively focused on one or two courses of study. I first accepted admission to McGill University on account of my early curiosity for biomedical science, but the school’s hasty “make up your mind and stick to it” mentality demands students be uncannily aware of what they want to pursue in life. With a current major in Anatomy and Cell Biology, a minor in Management, I have found it difficult to integrate my newfound curiosity for Philosophy.

McGill is truly a research institute. McGill’s Health Science has a very prestigious name (mostly because of McGill med), but the school really doesn’t take care of its undergraduate students. (On that note, I appreciate McGill for teaching me the importance of being independent and proactive). They also don’t have pre-med programs, and the general advisors suck.

I know Georgetown is not that well known in the health science field, but how is NHS academic quality compared to other schools in Georgetown? When I read the NHS website, I was really impressed by all the resources that are available through NHS like research, internship opportunities, smaller interactive lectures, simulation centers.

But, when I read through other threads on CC it gave me an impression that NHS is kind of looked down upon by other Georgetown schools

Another thing I’m concerned about is tuition. I pay about $40,000 (international student tution/ room&board) at McGill, but if I were to go to Georgetown, I would have to pay almost $60,000 or even more. Is it really worth paying extra $20,000 to transfer to georgetown?

So, McGill Health Science Program or Georgetown NHS (pre-med)?

Thanks

from what i’ve read about nhs being looked down upon by other schools at gtown:-

sfs’ers look down on everyone other school.
college people look down on msb and nhs
msb people look down on nhs but consider college’ers as equals.

you should ask a current hoya to confirm, but this is what i’ve come to understand from what i’ve read so far.

Honestly, no one really cares. I mean, we say “oh haha you go to the MSB” but it’s just facetiousness and nothing else, and it usually just stops coming up after the first week of school. The reason is that you’re not assigned dorms based on the major you’re in, so if you want to make friends (and who doesn’t), it’s best not to be elitist. While I might joke around about the MSB and the NHS (and the SFS, muahaha), I have plenty of good friends from all three schools, who are plenty intelligent and plenty awesome.
