I was recently accepted to my school’s McNair Scholars program. I really want to go to graduate school eventually and I’m wondering what the general opinion of the McNair program is. Will grad schools recognize it as a “prestigious” program or will they not know what it is?

I was in a program very similar to McNair in undergrad. Graduate schools most certainly do know what the McNair program is and do recognize it as a prestigious undergraduate fellowship with good preparation for graduate school. Don’t hesitate to accept the fellowship; it’s a really phenomenal experience. Other than the research, it prepares you for graduate school in a lot of intangible ways you wouldn’t expect.
