me could use help if possible

hi

so me is here to ask for help if possible

okay so last december i applied to MATC and registered for the MATC promise. then in february my high school advisor helped fill out the fafsa application thingy for MATC - since me can’t really speak without something like a microphone to speak on so people can hear me, or for no one to really be around except for family so that it is possible for them to hear me - i have to write or type things in order for people to understand me. so me just wrote to my advisor what i knew and then she filled it out for me on the computer. in march i get the letter from my college saying to attend a mandatory meeting in april, so i go there on that month.

then in june i get an email which came from fafsa - i guess they needed to verify some things so i contact one of the financial aid advisors and wait for a response. i didn’t get one until the end of june so i figured i would contact the head or lead financial aid advisor for MATC about it and i get a response. so the person responds to me that i needed a v1 independent verification form, non tax filer form, w2 wage and income statement and well proof of guardianship from the court.

me figures at that time that this is not the desired response so on the first week of july, i go to the MATC campus in milwaukee. so me goes into the building and asks where financial aid, and i get directed there. so i chat to the person (who i was responding to in the email) and discuss my application (me writing down my responses to her) and she says to have my aunt call her, so i do that and i guess my aunt and the financial aid person talks on the phone and, she realizes that i’m dependent, so after aunt had conversation on phone, the financial aid person tells me in email right after the phone conversation to fill out the dependent form and to attach the irs transcripts by email, as well as my final high school transcript with my graduation date on it.

later that month, i get a mail saying that you will have to pay for classes, so me sends email again that the deadline is coming soon and that my classes will be dropped if it passes by, and i get a response the next day. she emails me that she will place a code on my file to hold my classes without payment so that my classes will not be dropped. my aunt also tells me that my mother would send her information by mail from florida so that me can fill out the forms.

okay so after that, i wait a week for my mother to send the forms that i need to fill it out, and a week later the forms that came in the envelope arrived. so me fills out the dependent forum with help of my high school principal that i chatted with in email, and after that, i send email to him about my transcript and he says he will send it as soon as possible. I ask my principal what to attach to the email, since me doesn’t really know anything about irs, and since my aunt said i couldn’t take what was in the envelope to MATC, he says, “i would just take a photo of everything in the envelope, attach all of the photos to the email, and hope for the best.”

so i thank my principal and do all the above and double checked to make sure that me didn’t really miss anything, then me sent rest of the forms in the email. I get an email back from financial aid person thanking me for sending them and to expect a response by mid august. so fast forward to the 1st week of august and i get another response - although not the one i expected. it was from financial aid again - but not from the same person. this person says “i noticed you filled out the independent forum, can you fill out dependent forum for application to continue” me thinks there is miscommunication and so i send email to the financial aid person that i chatted with multiple times about the problem. I get a response back and she says to not worry and that everything will be taken care of.

after another week more, fast forward to now and me didn’t get a response. so first of all, me logs into my MATC account, and checks to see if any financial aid was awarded. I expected that to not be the case and I was right, as it said that there was no financial aid available. okay, so then me looks into my documents, and well apparently, it says that the forms are missing. so i send an email to the financial aid person again (this monday) and she says that we have the forms, and to expect a response this thursday. so yesterday went by, and i check my account and email, and well, i didn’t get a response. me looks into documents again, forms are still missing apparently. out of curiosity, i look at my account charges to see how much i will owe, and well i owe about $2,000 dollars, for the fall.

me tells auntie how much it costs and she says that she doesn’t have the money to pay for it. i check to see how much i have and well i don’t really have anything to pay for it either. me chats with mom on social media and she says, unfortunately i cannot pay for it, and then she asks me if i filled out fafsa and everything. i answer that i did and then she says that it might be best for me if i just don’t go to college. so i guess me is in a situation where i will not know if there is financial aid being awarded or not and well guessing by my conversations with matc, i might not get an answer until october and well classes start on the 29th.

okay, i guess me is not really knowing where to proceed at this point. so what should i do?

  • should me go to MATC next week and well find out what the problem is
  • should i just wait it out and well go to class on the 29th of august knowing that there isn't a decision on my application being made
  • if not, then what else

any help?

What is MATC?

Also I’m not usually the grammar police on posts…but is there some reason you use “me” instead of “I”?

Your post is very lengthy. Could you answer these questions?

  1. Do you currently reside with either of or both of your parents? If not..with whom do you reside?
  2. When did you get your acceptance to this college...and your financial aid award?
  3. Ho did you think you were going to pay for college?

hi

so MATC is, Milwaukee Area Technical College. so for why me uses “me” a lot instead of “I” - well, i guess - if i were to explain, - well lets just say its like saying that flying cars exist or that extraterrestrials exist - no one’s going to believe it.

so for the answers to questions.

  1. well me only lives with auntie and grandma - mom is in florida and well me doesn't really have a father figure.
  2. well like i said i don't know yet, i haven't gotten a response from them if i will get financial aid or not. I did get a letter saying that i was accepted to the college.
  3. that's a good question... well i guess i'll type that my high school advisor asked me if i want to go college and i wrote yes, and then she helped me fill out my application

“so me is here to ask for help if possible”

Are you Smeagel or Gollum?

Well you can clearly do it properly so…maybe make the extra effort so you can communicate as clearly as possible?

Did you mom give up parental rights? Is your aunt or your grandma your legal guardian…court appointed?

okay to posters above

umm… serious answers only can you not make fun of my autism

so moving on

okay, no, mom didn’t give up parental rights… she just had me live with grandma and auntie.

It is very possible that for financial, aid purposes, you will need to include your mom’s financial information, since you other relatives are not your legal guardians.

Has anyone mentioned that to you yet?

It sounds like you applied for aid as an independent student, and the college questioned that.

yes, my financial aid advisor and auntie told me to include mom’s information

well, that’s what i was told, just fill out the independent form first, until the financial aid lady talked to auntie and that’s when she realized i was dependent and told me to fill that out instead, so i guess me is in the waiting for response mode

Do you have your mom’s accurate 2015 tax information? That is what is needed.

Did you order a tax transcript of you mom’s taxes or link to the IRS Data Retrieval Tool?

What is the school saying?

What IS your mim’s income?

Since your legal parent is NOT a resident of Wisconsin, has that community college said for sure that you qualify for instate tuition rates?

okay,

me is 100 percent sure - mom’s confirmed it

umm i don’t know - me just took a photo of everything since i don’t know which is which and sent it in the email for the financial aid to figure out

i guess i’ll have to go next week to find out

my mother makes $42,000

i don’t know for the last question

hmm - my response post isn’t showing up for some reason - so i guess i’ll just say that the answers to the questions you typed weren’t allowed i suppose

The answers to my questions ARE allowed, and are frequently answered on this forum. Try again.

welp, its not working. did my answers and well… its just not going to show up i guess unless it needs to be approved or something else

edit: i guess thinking was right, now i have to wait for my response post to be approved

??

What kind of answers would be requiring an “approval”. I don’t think we’ve ever seen this.

Maybe just answer Thumper’s Q’s with yes/no answers

I will ask @thumper1 's questions again. I’m pretty sure they are allowed.^^^^^

I will ask @thumper1 's questions again. I’m pretty sure they are allowed.^^^^^

okay, well lets try this again then. and if this doesn’t show up, i’m taking a screenshot of the message that comes up

yay, looks like it did finally. someone must have not liked my earlier response posts since this is pretty much the same one or one of the mods must have told me to reword it a little bit somehow - either way i’m happy

  1. me is absolutely certain - mom's confirmed it
  2. i don't know - i just took a photo of everything that came in the envelope since i don't know which is which and then i sent it in the email for financial aid to figure out
  3. umm, well - i guess i'll have to find out when i go there this week
  4. she makes $42,000 - well less when counting my dad who me doesn't really know and the two brothers and 1 sister i have
  5. okay for last question i don't know

I asked about a tax transcript. This is something you need to order from the IRS. You can NOT take a picture of the tax return and mail it to the college. Either you need a tax transcript…or you need to link to,the IRS Data Retrieval tool. It doesn’t sound like you did either.

well, that’s what my high school principal told me to do. i’m not going to argue with him. and well, my aunt isn’t allowing me to take what’s in the envelope to the college - so i guess i’m out luck now.

okay i’m looking at the irs data retrieval tool… sigh i guess not, i’m not going to put in false information on that thing, i haven’t worked at all, absolutely no way. downloading the tax return transcript? me doesn’t have a credit card number, account number, nor a mobile phone, etc. so i guess we’re out of options now. i guess…thanks for helping
