ME jobs

I am thinking of switching from Aerospace E to ME because I don’t want to work in the military contracting/weapons industry. Would there be plenty of choices in the ME field that are independent of the military? Thank you.

That’s weird. I switched from Aerospace Engineering to M E even though I want to work in the military contracting/weapons industry. I switched because aerospace was too specific for me. I believe M E is a very broad field, so you’ll have plenty of choices. You can work on cars, robotics, machines, medical equipment, etc.

So why did you sign up for AE when you know most (but not all) companies are defense related?

Because the courses and material seemed the most interesting to me. I would rather work on commercial planes or anything that didn’t require security clearance.

You can still do commercial planes for Boeing.

ME is much broader that ASE and I feel that you can get nearly any job as an ME that an ASE can get. If not, a year or two for a Masters will fix that problem.
