<p>I’m thinking for BU, NYU, George Washington U and Syracuse. I’ll apply to Columbia because it would be my dream school, but I’ve decided that’s unrealistic. I’ll keep it short.</p>

Pretty good public school in Miami
First-gen. college student
Lived from the 2nd to 7th grade in the Dominican Rep. (will this count for anything?)</p>
<p>3.25 UW GPA, 4.00ish W (brought down by a lazy freshman year)
SAT: 680 Math, 720 critical reading, 650 writing
About 10 APs, some self studies, doing well on the test.</p>
<p>No ECs that jump out of the page, but a few things here and there.</p>

<p>You are in a good position both a) having an upwards trend and b) being a URM. I think that Columbia would be a good reach and those schools you listed run a nice gambit of low reaches (NYU, GW) and high matches (BU). I would look into a few more schools across the spectrum, but you have an excellent start. Your SATs are in a good positions for these schools (if you want to be competitive at schools like Columbia I would say retake), your GPA is on the low side but, with a strong first semester it can be partially made up.</p>
<p>As far as being in the Dominican Rep. it doesn’t necessarily count for anything, but if it affected your life’s goals in some way, then it is definitely essay material :P</p>

<p>I am going to say you have a going to say that if you get some nice EC’s on that resume you have a pretty awesome shot at NYU.</p>
