Hi, I am pretty new to these boards, but either way, I am applying early decision II to Tufts. Im pretty sure it should be considered a reach for me but I figured what the heck, why not apply. Either way, I was hoping I could get a feel for whether I can expect a big envelope or a small one around February… Thanks… my stats:

If you really want to go there, early decision what give you the best chance, so go for it. Your stats are about the same as me and I am planning on applying ED II (my GPA is a 3.9, but my ACT is lower than your SAT equivalent)

I think the problem is one main focus, like state or national recognition in something that you focused on, and seeing the people that got rejected or deferred it seems to be the same case. I think that you have a good shot as I just got accepted with a similar GPA and similar test scores, but that would be the only thing I can see. Word of advice, I honestly believe that showing interest really helped me a lot. Send in your 1st quarter senior grades as I believe with ED II they won’t see your first semester grades yet, and send an update right before the deadline with what you have done Senior year thus far. GOOD LUCK!

Well, my first quarter grades weren’t the greatest (who knew that they would matter?), but I did show a lot of interest (info session, campus tour, good interview, etc.)
Thanks for the advice!

Sorry, one more thing:
I feel like it’s clear ballet and IR are my main drawing points. I guess I’ll have to help them see that…
Can I send my grades in even though they’ve alread flat-out rejected me?

Unfortunately there is no (really successful) appeal process. Sometimes things just don’t work out, ya know? I’m sure that a person as qualified as you are will find a wonderful place to spend four years. I wish you the best of luck!
