in 9th grade I received my first and only C in advanced math. Now I have a B average in Math as of 10th and 11th grade. In every other class I have in the high to mid 90ies. I am also a former member of our schools jv football team(2 years), and currently members of key club(vice prez), FHA, xc, spring track. I also do research at highly competitive Research program: Rockefeller, and did summer research at Cold Spring Harbor, also competitve. I am also entering the dupont essay contest. English is my second language and I am Indian. My gpa is a 93, and have 700+'s on 3 Sat II’s. Taking SAT soon. Do I have a shot at good school, like Duke, NYU, JHU, Cornell and UCLA. Will that one C ruin me. BTW, I moved to NY from MD 3 weeks into 9th grade. Big move, and many changes. Sorry I did this post already but in a different category. Please give ur imput.

potomac? awesome! what school do you go to…?

i know from friends’ experiences that hopkins will let you in with a C if you have good SAT scores and other things. the rest are iffy–it really depends on your overall profile. strong SATs will definitely help ease them over the C, and if you’ve gotten near-straight-As since then, it can be explained as a fluke or something. wow them with your upward trend and super SATs and ECs and everything else, and it won’t matter unless you’re trying to go to an uber-picky harvard/yale-level school =)

anyways, good luck, from one potomac kid to another!
