Meadowmount vs Heifetz?

Anyone here have recent experience at both Meadowmount and Heifetz Jr? Bonus if you can speak specifically to cello studies. My 14yo cellist is trying to decide whether to return to Heifetz (he went last summer) or try Meadowmount. He’s good with practicing a ton and doesn’t mind restrictions on electronic devices. He loved the Heifetz community, he just wants to learn as much as possible this summer.

If he gets to work with Jans Jørgen Jensen at Meadowmount, I would be hard-pressed to turn down that legendary experience. His teaching is transformative.

Thanks for the response, was hoping you might weigh in! He’s been accepted to Hans Jørgen Jensen’s studio.

Meadowmount is more intense than Heifetz (note, I am not saying it is better). I agree with what TMV said, Hans is to be blunt on a different level than the faculty at Heifetz in their Junior division (Heifetz Senior is very high level, and for chamber you can’t beat it, the Bormeo people are fantastic coaches and teachers, the junior division are a lot younger mostly or pre level teachers from what I know of them ). If you are serious about cello Hans is something else. Like Meadowmount in general, he is pretty intense , and he has his quirks and the student will need to work hard, but he is a really good teacher IMO.

Thanks for the helpful response! You’re right, Heifetz Jr and Heifetz Sr are quite different programs.
