Meal Plan

I don wanna starve to death, so I made it 20 Classic plan
how bout yu guys//

No way you won’t eat half of it. You’ll end up dropping down. I got a 14 meal plan and went over 1 meal last semester. My dad for some reason thought I would eat more but that’s dumb and I’m just gonna change it. I only have time for lunch and dinner and sometimes not even time for lunch. I guess it really depends on your free time. I almost never make it to breakfast or when I do, I don’t make it to lunch. Don’t worry about starving ever.

Thanks for your reply,

but I really do eat a lot.

Unless my class schedule hinders my desire to consume food,

I’ll definitely be at the cafeteria.

There is no way I skip lunch, or dinner.

This is just my opinion, but every single person I talked to recently said that

they end up having only few meals a week. how come this is true?

I just don’t wake up early enough for breakfast. My schedule keeps me so busy I don’t have time for lunch. And sometimes even too busy for dinner. Believe me you will eat (or have time to eat) a lot less. Getting up for class isn’t the same as high school. Especially as an engineering major, which if I remember correctly you are. And if you’re living in a public dorm that isn’t ISR you are coming to the quad from far away thereby decreasing your time even more. You’ll see. You can always scale down if it is too much. (It will be. Almost always.)

I had the 12 meal/1,500 credits this semester and I didnt even use up all the meals or credits every week.

Theres not even 20 meals a week
15 (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner M-F)
+4 (Lunch and Dinner Sat, Brunch and Dinner Sunday)

I’m pretty sure you’ll skip a meal once or twice a week.

Going over 12/1500 is usually not necessary. What happens to most students is that they very often miss breakfast because they do not get up in time. They then miss some lunches because of class schedules or they just don’t want to go back to a dorm for lunch. They then miss a couple of weekend meals because they go out for pizza (or other). Having those credits becomes important for quick things at places on campus and, if need be, you can use them for full meals sometimes at the dorm.

marchguy, timing is everything when trying to balance meals with your class schedule. What people are trying to tell you is that college life is much different than hs. You may have an early class and just won’t get up in time for a sit-down breakfast. Or your schedule may not allow to get to a sit-down lunch every day. That’s all. Just look at the dining hours of the various eateries around campus.

The UIUC website is pretty cool. You can check out what’s on the menu today, next week or next month!

Go for the big plan 1st semester if you want. You can always adjust down 2nd semester.

Get a cheaper meal plan to start with. You can always buy extra meals and upgrade the next semester. Even if you eat a lot, it won’t be anywhere near 20 meals. You might miss breakfast because you stayed up late working on homework / projects / labs. You’ll go out with your friends on weekends for food or order pizza. You might go home for the weekend or vacations and skip a couple meals. There will be events like company info sessions or club welcome dinners with free food. All this will add up to wasted meals.

o…okay…
what kind of meal plan then would you guys prefer for me?
