<p>Is it a good idea to major in mechanical engineering and minor in engineering mechanics? Are these the same thing? I only need to take 1 extra class (1 credit lab) to get the minor. All the other classes required for the minor are also required for my major in ME, so they will count twice. I’m not sure about the difference between ME and EM; my friend told me they’re the same thing. Are they?</p>

<p>I honestly don’t see the benefit. And “Engineering (Solid?) Mechanics” is usually included within ME (as shown simply by the requirements of the EM minor).</p>
