Mechanical Engineering @ Lehigh Uni, PA

I was admitted by Lehigh University in the class of 2015 in its Mechanical Engineering program. Although I wanted to do Aerospace Eng, I love Lehigh and it offered only Mechanical Eng, however it offered Aerospace Eng as a minor. So, I’ll be doing Mech Eng major and Aerospace Eng minor.

How strong and reputed is the Mechanical Eng program at Lehigh University?
Any ideas welcomed!!!

Lehigh has an outstanding reputation for mechanical (or any) engineering. As far as reputation, MIT is in a class by itself. Caltech, Stanford, and maybe Berkeley are right there with MIT or very close. Lehigh would compare well with any other school. Again, this is based on reputation. Other factors (size, location, cost, etc.) would determine if Lehigh is the right fit.

Can any1 tell me, how good are the research facilities for Mech Eng students at Lehigh University? Are incoming freshmen allowed to be involved in Research activities in their first summer?

Any ideas welcomed!!!

I think you’ll find the undergraduate research opportunities to be fairly rich. Lehigh is also home to the Ben Franklin Technology Partners Institute which you should definitely check into: [Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Pennsylvania](http://benfranklin.org/)
