Would it be difficult to get accepted to a master’s program in Chemical Engineering at a top 5 engineering school, after getting a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at that same school while maintaining a high GPA?

It’s possible, not very common, but you could.

One of my profs in chemical engineering got the following degrees:
Physics (BS), materials engineering (MASc), solid state physics (MS), mechanical engineering (PhD).

it’s definitely possible.
my undergrad major is biochemistry and still i got accepted into ucsb, ucla and cornell’s ChemE programs this year.

ur chances are probably better than mine, since ME and ChemE are very similiar in their fundamental engineering courses (heat transfer and fluid mechanics)
