Med-School Admission QUESTION

Hi Everyone!
I’m not entirely sure if this would even b the right place to ask, but it does’t hurt to try.

I’m currently a sophomore in college, and since junior high my goal was to eventually attend medical school. Unfortunately as I attempted to gain some experience over this past summer, I was denied because I am unable to receive the Varicella vaccine (for medical reasons). It was important for me to have received it since I would have been working around patients throughout the experience. Okay… on to my question. Should I even bother attempting Med-School? Would my inability to receive all the necessary immunizations that are typically asked for by schools, prevent me from being accepted? I know this question may seem a little silly, but as I said, I’m a sophomore in college… I don’t want to feel like I’m wasting time, money and energy just to be told that I wouldn’t be able to do it.

I’d pick a few schools and email them to ask. I would think a medical exemption wouldn’t preclude you from medical school but I can’t say for sure. For example I have a classmate with Crohn’s for whom the vaccine or a boost would be contraindicated but I don’t know if he had chicken pox as a kid and thus was naturally immune.

I see on my school’s form it says:

Maybe it’s not negotiable? I don’t know. I would definitely advise hearing it from the horse’s mouth than a random internet stranger.
