<p>My question is in regards to selection/assignment of location for the MS-3 & MS-4 years. Is there any academic or professional reason why getting assigned to Huntsville, Tuscaloosa, or Montgomery would be harmful to one’s professional options? Do you limit yourself if you are not in Birmingham for MS-3 & MS-4?</p>
No there isn’t a reason for one or the other. The med school just assigns each student BEFORE they even enroll. My son learned his 3rd/4th year location shortly after his med school acceptance.
The student gets to give a 1st choice, 2nd choice, etc, but the school doesn’t honor that really…the school needs to split the class, so they just do what they need to do.
there is a preference given if the student (not parents) own property in one of the areas.
