Med school from Business program

I think it would be a good idea to have a back-up plan.

I’ve always liked the idea of being a doctor, but I think having a science undergrad would be useless unless one is able to attain high enough marks for the competitive med/dental/pharmacy/optometry school.

I’m definitely interested in business as well, and I’d think that having a BCOM degree would be helpful. I know that for med school it is not necessary to have a science degree.

My question is, in the McGill Desautels (Mangement) faculty, would it be possible to take enough science courses as electives in order to fulfill med school prerequisites? My only fear is a severe overall GPA drop.

Thoughts?

I was actually contemplating if I would do the same thing. I really want to do medicine, but I am not sure what path is the safest towards that goal. Currently I have two acceptances from both Concordia and Mcgill in the life sciences. However I was thinking that perhaps I should switch to business in order to get a degree that is useful.

If anyone has any thoughts I would also like to hear them.
