Ok, so I’m going to southern Illinois university this year. I want to go to med school. Is siu a good enough school to continue to med school afterwards? What would I have to do at siu, like gpa, mcats, and what not? I know siu has like a shared med school program with u of i.

Here’s SUI’s Pre med advising page:

[Pre-Medical Information](http://www.science.siu.edu/advisement/pre-medical.html)

[Health Advisement](http://www.science.siu.edu/advisement/health-advise.html)

When you get to SIU, schedule a meeting with one of the health professions advisors (or attend the pre-med informational meeting). You’ll get all the information you need to know about what it takes to have a chance to be a successful applicant to med school.

SIU does have a med school in Springfield and it has a very strong in-state preference in applicants, but attending SIU does not guarantee a spot at the med school.
