Med school

Ok so I’m a student at UCLA
My major is Psychology and a minor in philosophy. cGpa 3.99 sGpa 3.95
The problem is that i am a transfer student I took gen chem and gen bio at my local cc because it was required to transfer! I took 1 quarter of ochem at ucla and got a A-
I have 200 hours of clinical experience
100hrs of shadowing a doctor
300 hrs of being a musical director at my local church
Im also An officer at for a philsophy club at my school
Lastly mcat score is a 38. This year there was no essay thank God!
Idk if it matters but I am black/Ethiopian
Does taking 90%of my premed courses at a cc hurt my chances even with my current stats? I wanted to save money by transferring! If it does hurt my chances what schools should I apply to then

I think the Student Doctor Network will be more helpful than CC in your situation…

However, what med schools do you want to attend? I think even Stanford, JHU, Mayo Clinic might be within reach.

What is your UCLA specific GPA? That will be the crux. You just have to demonstrate your gpa isnt inflated from CC, although being black with a 38 MCAT I doubt it will matter. Just to be clear, you’re an American citizen of Ethiopian descent when you say you’re black/Ethiopian, right?

Yea I’m American with Ethiopian decent. Also my UClA GPA is a 3.82 I can bring it up though in my last year, but idk it may drop, worst case scenario, to a 3.75 at UCLA. Will that hurt it too much?

I would love to go somewhere within California with an exception of WU, such as USC, UCLA, UCI, WU, UCSD, UCSF, But you really think Stanford?

To be safe you should probably look at schools outside of california but if you apply to the right range of schools you’re chances of getting into A medical school are pretty absurd as a black person with numbers like that: https://www.aamc.org/download/321514/data/2012factstable25-2.pdf

When I said inflated I didn’t mean “higher” I meant more that like you weren’t in a situation where you had a 4.0 at your CC and then your GPA tanked at UCLA. That obviously doesn’t apply to you so I don’t think the CC courses will be an issue.

with your mcat score and grades, you should have no problem getting into med school
